About Me

I grew up in the same house my mom did, with 20 acres of woods behind it and farmland in front of it. There, I played in the creek, learned the names of flowers, and watched wildlife go by. To write, I’m usually stationed at my kitchen table, on the living room floor with my cat, or on the front porch. I still watch the wildlife—it just looks a little different in the city.

I came to the city of Knoxville for grad school by way of Birmingham, Flagstaff, and Starkville. (There, I completed the leveling year of the master’s of landscape architecture at Mississippi State to gain a foundation for writing about LA, urban planning, and habitat restoration.)

I’m an INFJ according to Myers Briggs, but my "N" is awfully close to being an "S." So I’m creative and analytical, a planner with a flair for the poetic, and an empathic soul who can look at an issue from many different perspectives.

My favorite books include To Kill a MockingbirdA Ring of Endless Light, The Buried Giant, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I've recently been plowing through The Great Library series—I can't put them down.

You can peruse my artwork and photos on Instagram. My favorite medium is simple ebony pencil. The shadows and highlights are one way I explore in art what goes unseen in the colors of daily life.

So, that's me. Now, I'd love to hear about you!
